This really only confirms the details of the 13 April 08 post by shelly which was from an ancestry tree. The passenger list for 2 Aug 1907 on the SS Calabria had Florinda Cocozza, age 27 travelling with Antonia Schiavone age 2 years. and they are going to Pennsylvania. So she travelled under her maiden name.

There are some Rootsweb World Connect entries on Cocozza Family but I can't see anything to give another clue. Still not finding Umberto I'm afraid.  ???

Again this is Grandizio in 1920 Atlantic City Ward 4, Atlantic, New Jersey. So he has'nt moved in 10 years.
Cocozza Grandzio 53 It stills says married but Maria is suppose to have died in 1913. If that is the case she died in Atlantic City. Labourer on the rail-roads.
Millie Zona 22 Daughter. Born Italy
Joseph Zona 30 Son In Law Born Italy. Labourer Street Dept.
Nick Grandzio 16 Son. Born Pennsylvania. Cook in hotel
Carl Grandzio 14 Son Born Pennsylvania
Josephine Grandzio 13 Son Born New Jersey
Peter Grandzio nearly 10 Son Born New Jersey.

Sorry forgot to say the death date for Grandizio is suppose to be 22 Feb 1931. So it is quite possible this was him in the hospital as a patient in 1930 Northfield, Atlantic, New Jersey.
I won't put the patient list on, he is one of dozens.

Thank you for your pm's. Pleased this helps to give a bit of background for you. We know Grandizio started off in Pennsylvania because 2 of the chilldren were born there and we have managed to find him on all 3 census -  1910/20/30.
Giambattista (born 1882)  (another brother of Florinda) was in Scotland by 1901 and shows on the Scotland Census.
Agostino 1885 arrives 1907 but by 1916 he has died - not sure if he married or not.
Stefano 1876 was married to Almerinda Franchitti - they had 4 sons but they have disappeared but we think he died before 1921. (I wonder if he was still in Pennsylvania !!)
Grandizio sponsored Almerinda and 4 sons to go to Atlantic City after the death of Stefano.
In that 1920 census of Atlantic City Ward it shows Millie and Joseph Zona. Millie was Carmela Cocozza - daughter of Grandizio. Millie and Joseph have at least 7 children. One of which was Leanore. (I have found an obituary for her which gives details of her husband and children - will send by pm)
Peter Anthony Cocozza 1910 New Jersey married Nellie Viola Smallwood and it seems had at least 14 children - the first born son 1932 died 2002 in Egg Harbour. Atlantic City.

So plenty of info on the Cocozza line but nothing leading to Umberto Schiavone or anymore of his family.
Any more clues you can give me ?  ;D

Hi sprogx3.

Nothing in the pm that can help unravel the mystery unfortunately.
I strongly suspect that they returned to Italy and then made the journey to Scotland from there. Possibly to meet up with Giambattista & his family. I cannot find any references to passenger lists from Italy to the UK for that period.

On the census look ups in April 08 someone suggested that Umberto Schiavone's death certificate was on Scotlands People at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk  If you have'nt got that, here is a link that will give you free credits if you register before the 28th February 2010. Perhaps the death certificate would give a lead to his parents and maybe worth a try !!!

AncestralScotland and ScotlandsPeople, Scotland’s official online source of genealogical information, are offering you 30 FREE search credits, worth approximately $10.  To claim your free credits, enter your details and the promotional code SMH below.
