Access to the 1939 register for England and Wales currently costs £42. However, for Scotland the General Register Office for Scotland is only charging £13. Better still, for Northern Ireland, the Public Records Office for Northern Ireland doesn't make any charge.
How can £42 be justified?
Unfortunately the information in the newsletter is not quite correct, with regards to Scotland its actually 13 GBP per
person not household and you have to provide information about the death of the person such as date of death and if they died overseas, a copy of the death certificate.
