I didn't mean visit it in person but drop them an e mail they are bound to have old maps that would pin point the cottage. How about phoning the pub (at a quiet time of day) the number is given here http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/17/17801/Vernon_Arms/Hanbury
They may give you a contact with the present owners
Good luck with it and let us know if you have success

Possibly not a great deal of use, but I live 10mins from Hanbury & have time on my hands.  I've never been to a records office & am not good at searching I'm afraid as I'm new to all this but if you need anywhere visiting and/or photographing I'm available!.  Hope it's ok to post that!

Wow Claire You can make as many offers like that as you want, thats really in the Rootschat spirit. Do you ever go into Worcester?  At the moment I need a marriage Index look up either at the History Center in Town or the Record Office on the out skirts
Let me know if you ever go and have time to look for me PLEASE RO s are not frightening places the staff are used to newcomers and are great at explaining everything and don't mind any questions or cries for help :) The look up i need is from a book on an open shelf in Alphabetical order really easy.
wow what a great offer
Can we help with your research at all?

Thanks Tree's - I'm sure I will need help but taking a mo to catch my breath - you would NOT believe the bad luck week I've had  :'(

I do go into Worcester occasionally (used to work there - how many chances have I missed!!!) - not got a trip planned but see how the week pans out (we have snow and more forecast) and I may make a trip for you ;)  You'd need to explain exactly where I need to go, lol.

Oh don't worry I can do other things there anyway.  Ombersley is fine also - I often go to my parents in Kidderminster so it's not far.

My run of bad luck continued today so I need things to take my mind off things!   ::)

Hello, I'm not sure if this chat is still active but one of my ancestors married a Small in the Himbleton area. My family are the Dallaway's from Himbleton, Earls Common areas. I'll go through my tree and find out what I can.

Looking at a map of Hanbury published in 1884 there is a  pub called The Cock Inn
I've tried to include a section of the map showing this but without success. However the map can be viewed at the National Library of Scotland website.  Map is Worcestershire XXX. NW.
Hope this helps
