Hi
As you probably have seen from previous posts I am also descended from William Stannett. Since those posts I have a tentative tree that goes further back, this is on ancestry as the public member tree StannettBrooks. I haven't checked how up to date it is but from Richard Staninat and Dorothea Nevell I have now progressed to the following:
Thomas Staninat (c1630) & Marye. Children: Mare Stannat chr 29 Oct 1659 Hurley, Berks; Richard Staninat 3rd Mar 1662 Hurley; Elizabeth Staninat 8 Jan 1670
Using the rarity of the surname, the fact that Hemel Hempstead was not far and following traditional father/son naming I would tentatively say that our Thomas 1630 is the son of Thomas Staninot chr 7 Oct 1610 Hemel Hempstead. No marriage for him yet.
Then back into Bucks I am suggesting that Thomas 1610 is the son of Thomas Staninot chr 15 Oct 1582 Ivinghoe Bucks. He married Elizabeth Petty 20 Oct 1600. Children: Elizabeth 1601, Marie 1604, John 1607, Thomas 1610.
Thomas 1582 is the son of Thomas Stanynat, no birth/marriage date. Children: Robert Stanynat 1579, Thomas 1582, John 1586.
Although I have not been able to confirm the above (you can only do so much with the IGI and perhaps wills are the next move if any exist) I would think that the relationship even if not quite right goes back to the same source in Buckinghamshire.
I have also found in Great Brickhill 1522 Musters
Wal. Stannarde p.a. 2 0 0 66 13 4
I am currently trying to decipher the will of Robert Nevell 1630 who I believe to be the grandfather of the Dorothea Nevell who married Richard Staninat. The Nevill/Nevell family were blacksmiths and I think so were some of the Stannetts.
Regards
Steph
