Thanks. I'm going up to Elgin in April and would really like to see it or were it was.

Hello 'french'

You need to bookmark the National Library for Scotland map section.

On the maps over time it is variously spelt Coulartbank or Coulardbank - it's on the south west fringes of Lossiemouth.   (Thanks for the link Monica which gave me Lossie)

If you go to the link:

http://geo.nls.uk/os6inch/google.html

It'll take you directly to an excellent zoomable map.  However I'd also familiarise myself with the other maps there

Initially zoom down to Lossiemouth using the 'Map' tab on the right hand side of your screen.

When you have 5 or less bars left on the slider on the left side of your screen change the tab to 'Historic'  As you zoom in the maps will now change.

If you're having problems, I've saved a map image which I can forward you.

Any problems - please get back to me.

Regards,   Steve    :)

You might find the link below of interest:

Update on 25/02:  Thanks Monica.  :O)  'french' - what is your period of interest for the farm- were your relations the farmers or farm workers?    Google in general gives links to more recent farmers.  The link below gives some interesting info on a farmer by the name of Yool (Yule, Yuil etc), in the 1860's  who had bad problems with crows on the farm.  Useful background info if nothing else.  It just adds 'life' to the query
