Hi Ann

Have you tried the Alford Family History Society for Aberdeen and surrounding areas.?  Or a free search through the Latter Day Saints.

If this is not already posted on the Scottish Board for Aberdeen I would respectfully suggest that you post on there.
I have a Margaret Duncan on my tree with a father James Duncan  it would be nice to find that they are related.

Hi Ann

Have you got the information on Jessie's birth/baptism ?

I've found a possible.  Her father's name slightly out but if William gave the info, he might have got it wrong. Everything else fits with her age at death:

30 May 1854, Elgin, Morayshire. Jessie Reid. Parents - Alexander Reid and Ann Sim

I don't see any other Jessie Reid's with mother Ann(e) Sim.  Here's the family in 1861, just in case:

House on Woodside, St Andrews, Lhanbryde
Parish 142 ED - 2 Page 7

Alex Reid, 35, ploughman, b. Alves
Anne Reid, 35, b. Elgin
Isabella Reid, 9, b. Alves
Jessie Reid, 7, b. Elgin
Ann Reid, 3, b. Lhanbryde
William S Reid, 2, b. -do-

Back to the drawing board then  :-\

Added - I  see you have info on this couple on this thread:

Have you followed them up or checked for a birth of a Jessie/Janet/Jean/Jane Sim circa 1853 ?

Hi Ann

I spent a good few hours last night/early hours trying to work them out but I couldn't get anywhere.

Not sure what the way forward is because i don't think that either of the Reid families that we've found are correct  :-\
