HI Ann

Have you found anything at all about George Duncan?  I couldn't see a likely one in the 1881  and, not knowing his age, it was needles and haystacks  :-\

I recall that Stenhousemuir was written on one of the certs.

in the 1881 census william was boarded out to the wood family in aberdour aberdeenshire  it also says on that census that place of birth was unknown. the 1891 censuc it says  carron stirlingshire, then 1900 it says larbert

I wonder if the Woods had any links to the family at all?

In those days,  when adoption wasn't formalised, children might be taken in by relatives/ friends/neighbours.  Unless the Woods took in foster children  :-\

Have you checked them out?
