Culligan
« on: Saturday 27 February 10 12:25 GMT (UK) »
I am wondering if anyone can help me, or point me in the right direction.
I am trying to find the birth of John Richard Culligan born 26th August 1919. I cant find one in England but I do know there is an Irish link.
I have the Baptism for him in Hereford in 1919 on 28th September. Mothers name Margarita Culligan and no fathers info.
I know that at some point John was taken to Ireland and was attending the Artane School which he said he ran away from.
John is no longer alive, but had a very soft Irish accent and said his mother was an Irish barmaid, which is why I think he may also have been born somewhere there.
Any help in tracing his birth would be greatfully recieved.

Regards
Anner.

If John was born in Ireland he should be included in the Irish Civil BMD Index

There are a few birth registered with that name (without the middle name, which was not always used on registrations) .. only one that I see in 1919 in Kilrush district, Co. Clare. It might be worth a further search of the index using various variation in surname spellings also.

Irish civil index is online (free) so you can search there for a birth registration

Hi Anner.
A tad late but I have just come across your post!
I have links to the detail you have posted. I'm sure you will understand if I tread warily in the first instance and wonder what your connection might be and indeed your source for the information about Margaret?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi ya
Thanks for the reply. Some error is preventing me replying to personal messages. That said I can work out who you are...this is one of Jan's little brothers. I kind of guessed that it had to be someone close to the family given the wording on the information.
Thanks anyway and take care.
