COMPLETED) Need advice please on uploading photos
« on: Sunday 28 February 10 13:52 GMT (UK) »
I have two digital cameras, never had a problem uploading photos to the P.C before, via the wizard. However yesterday i plugged in my Mach Power DX550 to upload from the camera ,the wizard didn't come up.So I then put the card in the card reader still the wizard didn't come up.I don't have this problem with the other camera so I know the wizard is there .Any suggestions as to what the problem is please as I have tried all I know.
Which isn't a lot I just take the photos ;D

two options I would try,

1. Go to <my computer>  and make sure that the card is being read.

2. Open your photo editing program and upload from there, <add pictures>  from the <file> dropdown menu.

Alan
I am not sure what you mean about making sure the card is being read :-\m I have 2 editing programs one for my Lexmark scanner printer.
Plus Photoscape which i recently downloaded, none of them have the option of uploading from a camera. The card reader is on the Programs installed .Before, i could just plug in any camera and P.C automatically brings up the wizard but it doesn't come with DX550.

Hi Celia,

I had the same problem awhile back when the Wizard would not come up - knew it was sitting there somewhere, but whatever things I tried it wouldn't come up.

The only solution I could think of doing was unstall the camera and reinstall ....

You've probably tried that as well ;D

The Wizard is part of the American system(whatever that is ;D ) I have found the wizard and there is nothing missing,it works on my other camera though.
The camera isn't installed as far as I know .I just plugged it in and the wizard arrived, so the camera wasn't needed.I have had the camera a few years now so don't want to really re-install because everything on it is well out of date.I only discovered I couldn't upload from the camera when i couldn't through the card.

Celia i think what Alan meant is go into my computer and see if the card/camera is there,
ie removable device, then you SHOULD be able to just open and drag them from there,
is it the same card reader you are using for the other camera?
if so obviously nothing wrong with it, try a couple of different ways ie plug in the card when the reader is in, or visa versa,
also you can try plugging in the camera (switched on) and see if thats in my comp'

Hello Celia,

following on from your earlier posting, reply n° 6, this is what I have on my pc when I plug the camera in and turn it on:
I am using MS windows as my system here, currently Vista but it was the same (at this point) on my XP

On the left hand side you see Windows explorer with C and D hard disks plus the DVD (H) and:
my camera which is Removable Disk (E). I can explore this just like any other folder in the system

On the right of the photo is the pop-up (which appears when I connect and turn on my camera) in which Vista or XP gives me the choice of how to deal with my photos.

cheers, falcybe
