Thanks Maddie. :DThe age is very close to the date I have. It is great to have an old family bible with names, but we are now getting a better picture of who these names were. I have to check out what a private solider and horse patroller were in the 1800's.

Hi Chris

I'm not sure what a Horse Patroler was, possibly something to do with the police force in London at the time but the Private Soldier looks as if he was in the 7th Hussars. If you Google it you should find lots of info.

Thomas being a Chelsea Pensioner certainly points to him having been in the Military.

To follow on from father in law Thomas Williams, this could be the marriage.

Thomas Garrard Bachelor to Mary Williams Spinster married by Banns 11 Nov 1824. Witnesses William Bilby & Elizabeth Whitehaven. At least I think that's the names of the witnesses, they are a bit hard to read.

I would like to find out more about Edward Putman born 9 November 1850 Sarratt and his wife Maryann (callled Polly). Maryann was born in Grimsbury and her maiden name was Lowery. From the 1881 census I think her birthdate was about 1858. Maryann married Edward Putman about 1877. I would like to find out if the 1891 census has any additional information, or if she can be found  in any previous census. One thing of interest is in the family bible some of Edward's children have been given what appears to be French Spelling in their names, Lucaser Edielte, Roseata, Larnold ,maybe bad spelling?

This is really a great find for me. Charles Chamberlain married Maryann Putman (daughter)and they eventually settled in New Zealand.( Arthur also lived with them there,too.) Thank you.
