Christina Muir North Berwick
« on: Wednesday 03 March 10 17:39 GMT (UK) »
Hi am hoping someone may be able to help, I have Christina/Christian Muir born abt 1817 in Dunbar (according to census info) her death certificate for 1893 shows her parents to be a William Muir and Agnes Hall/Wall.   I can find nothing for her birth and nothing for her parents, I would love to find her siblings but have come to a grinding halt.

I am hoping some knowledgable person out there can give me a lead, I've tried Scotlands people to no avail, are there any other routes I could follow?
Many thanks
Alison

Might the surname of her mother be Agnes Watt?

I found a Watt transcribed as Wall as a result of mistaking the cross bar on the 't' for a scratch on the film.

Just a thought.

Nell

thomas muire b. 1806
david muir b. 1808
all baptisms dunbar east lothian

Thanks Ev,   I've looked again at Christina's death certificate and I think it could very well be Watt.
I had seen that census info but of course cannot be sure its Christina's, I will follow the other children and see if there is a lead somewhere, it looks like Christina was possibly the last child, its seems to me (im my tree at least) that the women continue having children for about 20 years!!

Thanks again

Hi Alison!
William Muire (Muir) and Agnes Watt were my 3 x Gt Grandparents. I am descended from their son Thomas Muire
1806 who married Isabella Cockburn 1838. They had a son George Muir who married Janet Simpson Hay in New York.
My grandfather was their eldest son Thomas Adam Muir who was born in New York. The family came back to Scotland about
1873/4.
I do have a Muir tree on ancestry.
I also have other contacts for Christina and there was also
a daughter Janet (Jessie) and Ithink someone says there was also another daughter Agnes.
Regards Jo Greenwood (Nee muir)
