William GROOM - farrier - Earls Court
« on: Saturday 06 March 10 11:12 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find out about one of my ancestors, William Groom. I  have his marriage certificate, which shows that he was born c. 1887, and at the time of his marriage to Louisa m. Dring in May 1911 (Kensington Register Office), he was a farrier, and living at 11 Walgrave Road, Earls Court, London.

I am trying to find out about his family - such as if he had any siblings - the name of his mother, etc.

I know that his father's name was Thomas Groom, who was also a farrier - I would be interested to learn anything about Thomas's family - his parents, if he had any brothers and sisters (& who they married).

I fanyone should come across anything that might prove useful, i would be thrilled to hear from you!
Many thanks!

There does appear to be one match born Shoreditch, Mother Sarah GROOM. Alfred as a brother and Elizabeth as a possible step-sister.

I can follow him back to Sherington Bucks in 1861 census if you think this is the right one.

James,

You will often find that siblings of the bride and groom appear as witnesses froim time to time.
Does the 1911 marriage cert have any useful people on it  ;D

Look for the family in 1911- and then 1901.

It should read 30 for Joseph for his age. He is 40 and she is 55 in 1901 census  502/fol. 58.
