Hi All,

Wondering if anyone could help me find the family of John Johnston born in 1837 in Belfast, Ireland to James Johnston (carpenter) and Mary Curry. John came to Australia not sure when (there are so many) but married in Victoria in 1874. He was 37 at the time and his wife 18. Can trace him from then but not before.
There are a few discrepancy's on dates and names with the information l have,. Marriage certificate gives the information above however his death certificate states that he died in 1912 aged 88 which would put his birth year to 1824 in County Antrim, Ireland and that his father was William Johnston who was a farmer.
The oral story goes that his father left him an inheritance which he never received, it apparently went to another John Johnston in Australia, so he put an 'E' on the end of his name and became Johnstone. This occurred sometime after he was married as his younger children were registered as Johnstone.

Please help.
