Marriage George HINE to Mary
« on: Wednesday 10 March 10 12:39 GMT (UK) »
George Hine was born in Odell, Beds in 1783 and died in 1829 in London. He and "Mary" (surname not known) had five children baptised at St Andrews Holborn between 1812 and 1820 but I have not been able to find a marriage there (or anywhere else for that matter). Wondered if they could have married in Bedfordshire before coming to London, at a parish not on IGI. Cannot find them on any of the usual sources, Pallot etc.

The only extra info I have is that on Sarahs christening on FreeREG Georges occupation is Coachman. Abode Brownlow Mews.

Thanks; already have this (from son William's marriage in 1838). I was hoping there might be a composite & comprehensive Bedfordshire marriage index...

Virtually all Beds marriages pre 1813 are on the IGI. The only parish that I know is missing is Everton cum Tetworth (and the marriage wasn't there)

How have you established that George Hine baptising children in Holborn is the George Hine baptised in Odell in 1783?

There is a George Hine bapt in the Holborn area in 1778 at Endell Street Lying in Hospital. Could he be the one you need to follow?

There are burials of two George Hines in St Pancras

5 July 1829 age 46 of Calthorp Place
and
3 Dec 1826 age 40 of Fitzroy Row

either or neither of whom might be the Holborn George who was living in Marylebone at the birth of his 1820 born son.

Given the information you have come up with, please regard this as completed as far as Bedfordshire is concerned. I will follow up in London. I think the reference to Bedfordshire came some years back from a family tree chart  of Hine at SoG but I think I was probably clutching at straws
Thanks for making me re-think this; I also think it was in the days when I was too gullible about member entries on IGI. (There is an entry for George Hine from Odell marrying a Mary Lee and dying in 1829 but suspect this too was  totally incorrect).

I've been looking at these member submissions regarding Odell Hines and have concluded they they should be filed under "F" (fiction). None of the alleged events in Odell appear in the parish register.

I agree with Tazzie that the Holborn baptism is the one I'd be concentrating on
