Hi James,
I see what you mean by "a rapid response", there's nothing I can think of to add here, I found John Turner Harris in my early days of research with his wife and family in a census. By that time I had found my maternal gt gt grandparents Joseph and Lucy (nee Turner) Harris and their family, Joseph and Lucy named a daughter Caroline Turner Harris (bap1839) and another daughter Lucy Turner Harris (bap 1843). Based on the naming of Caroline and Lucy my theory was that John Turner Harris is likely to be a son of Joseph and Lucy, to date I hadn't been able the prove or disprove the theory, in spite of checking and rechecking the Coggeshall PRS on three visits to the UK. Now the mystery is solved thanks to those who responded to James post and I can remove John from my search list, exit John Turner Harris
Just a thought, could Joseph Turner be John's natural father who eventually "did the right thing by Emma" and marry her?
If there are any Harris names you wish me to check in my data bases I'll be happy to do so.
By the way I am still looking for the Harris family bible, I know there was one because a spinster great aunt Emily Harris moved in with my grandparents and brought with her a handwritten extract of her parents birth details from the family bible.
So if anyone spots it I would be grateful for a tip off. The Bible will have details of my gt grandparents Joseph Harris born 10 Aug 1829 Pattiswick and baptised 11 Sep 1831 Gt Coggeshall and Eliza Dalton born 13 Oct 1829 Gt Coggeshall, I am hoping that the Bible will give the names of Joseph's grandparents. Joseph's father was also a Joseph Harris who claimed in the 1851 Coggeshall census to have been born about 1807 in Little Coggeshall but in spite of checking Coggeshall PRs including the independents, three times, also checking some surrounding parishes I just cannot find him.
Regards.
