Records received 20 minutes ago!  And they are very interesting and there are photographs of his home and work places.  Well worth £10 and all done at the week end,

Hi, Abiam2, I think your success with the Cheshire Police records would be worth posting in the Cheshire Resources section.  What an amazing service.  Others would benefit from knowing how to contact, the fees etc,
Regards
Kathb

Just wanted to add that following your post, I contacted the Museum of Policing in Cheshire about one of my relatives and the curator was very helpful and informative.
This is a brilliant resource and the man running it is one of the most helpful I've met along the way. Just wanted to make my appreciation public!

:)Having noted the last comments perhaps I should give some information about the Cheshire Police Museum. The Cheshire Constabulary was formed in 1857 from this date to 1913 police personal records are very detailed, post this we do have information on officers but in lesser detail. We also hold records for Warrington Borough Police, and many other of Cheshire Police Constituent Forces, in total there are 15000+ records. We also hold pension and Marriage details of the officers. Depending on what is available the maximum fee charged is £10 (as of Oct 2010), this fee goes to assist with the running of the Museum. A sample report together with a police family history enquiry form can be found on the Museum web site at

Talbot post 1851 Liverpool. Phillips from Hope N.Wales, Chester and Liverpool. Also interested in obtainig Cheshire Police Officers  details from 1857 to 1964.
