Elizabeth & Johnson Granville To USA

Hi,

Not sure if I should continue on this thread, it has been a good few years since my original posting, and now I have a dilemma!

Wanting to verify the second marriage of Johnson Granville to Mary Curnoe Rowe (b 1848 Cornwall, England). What year was that? His first wife, Elizabeth (Paget) Granville died at Tremont Twp, Pennsylvania in Aug 1870, and (June) 1870 Census does show Johnson Granville 'married' with 4 children.

Johnson Granville died at Woodward Twp, Pennsylvania in 1919 - have not been successful finding a Death Certificate or Obituary.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Elizabeth Paget's marriage cert. has her father as "Joseph Paget, Railway Inspector".
Some of these newspaper items look possible sightings of him at work in the 1860s.
The 1871 Census has a Joseph Paget at Llangynwyd (where Elizabeth and Johnson tied the knot), platelayer. address 1 Gilwern Place, beer shop.

Thank you for your reply. Interesting articles to read.

Johnson Granville who married Elizabeth Paget I have now discovered, since getting DNA results, wasn't the only one in Pennsylvania, it seems, hence the emergence of my latest query.

I need to know the date of his second marriage to confirm that (my) Johnson Granville did indeed marry Mary Curnow Rowe, and raised a second family.

In 1901 Mary says she immigrated 1870 & also that they married 1870, but census info not taken all that seriously back then, so don't take that date to the bank. marriages were not recorded until 1885, although you might locate a church wedding.

Also found a tree which has errors....says their children born Eng. but that's from the 1880 census where the enumerator kept writing Eng. for all the children...  also the first son "Johnston" b. 1866 wales isn't listed for 1st marriage

Okeydoke...You'd said it was imperative that you find a marriage. Have you found both parents for Johnson?
