John Dodson Chalmers was born January 1835 in Montrose Scotland. He died 23 July 1918 in Owen Sound Ontario. This is all I know about John and I would like to know more if that is possible

John and his family are in Owen Sound on the 1901 Canada census. It indicates that his year of immigration was 1872. Here's a link to the census transcription and image from the site Lisa provided:

I found the family on the 1891 census listed under the name Chambers (that wasn't a transcription error - it's that way on the census so it was a mistake by the enumerator) but it is them. The family is at the bottom of the top page:

Three children born to John Chalmers and Catherine Burnett in Grey County:

William Scott Chalmers born 19 May 1876
Robert Chalmers born 1 Sep 1878

William Scott Chalmers died 15 Mar 1914 in Owen Sound. His death registration indicates he was married but I haven't been able to find the marriage yet.
