I am interested to find out what sort of area this was around those dates.  And if anyone knows of the police station at that time.  I will post a photo of the then police station in a few minutes,

Thanks for that Allan!  I am trying to down load a pic using Irfanview on this new lap top and am having no success.  It is Windows 7 and  seems very different!  Might be back later,

Hi, again Abiam2,
Christleton has an historical group who may be able to help,
Have a look at this site:
http://www.christleton.org.uk/
Enter and scroll down the screen to the link for the Historical Group.  If you look at the programme on the second page there is a contact name and number.
Good Luck

I always stay in Christleton when going up to Cheshire to the Chester Record office.

The canal goes through it and there's a lovely walk along the tow path.

At last I have manged to make this photo smaller. This is where Herbert Price and family were living (and he was working as a PC) between 1825 and 1935 in Christleton, near Chester.

Hello Abiam2,

I lived in the next village to Christleton for some years. As Christleton is a conservation area, it hasn't changed much in very many years.

I am sure the house in the photo is still there.

There are some excellent books on local history for Christleton and one I would recommend is, "Christleton: The History of a Cheshire Village" by Frank Latham. This is available in the Record Office and many Cheshire libraries. You may pick up a copy secondhand too.

The Record Office prepared Township Information Packs on many of the Cheshire villages and there is one for Christleton.

Most of the books etc, cover a period up to recent times and you may well find out more on your interest from these.

Jo

I,m not sure if is still there in the above form.  I have pictures but they are in Word and not in jpeg and I don't seem able to move or change it!  Thanks for your book ideas I will look into them,
