Hi

Does anyone know anything about the above?

I have found that someone has posted their family tree on the internet via this programme, this includes some of my family and I want to contact the author, looking at the site to be able to make contact you e-mail admin but where? I tried this I think it just got lost in space.

Any ideas?

I tried googling the name and it claims to be "a revolutionary genealogy program which allows you to view and edit your genealogy on your website"
They are offering a 15 day free trial, so why not join and see if that leads you to the author.
Good luck ..  Peter

Sorry Peter, but that won't help.

phpgedview is simply a program that anyone can download for free, without any registration details  and then upload to any website.
http://phpgedview.sourceforge.net/index.html

The "15 day free trial" looks like it is from a hosting company, where you can try out phpgedview for 15 days before having to pay for web hosting.

It is up to any website to owner to provide contact details.  I don't see the point of not doing it, because then the owner is missing out on the possibilitaly of others trying to contact them (as you are trying to do) :(

can you give us a link to the site: perhaps s/he's just hidden the contact details ..

Bob

Hi Tilly,

I looked on the main page, http://www.cowancreek.com/family/
He has a link there to "admin", but no e-mail address on it, which doesn't help.

But if you go to the main site, http://www.cowancreek.com you can contact the site owner (Coles) and ask him about the tree, whether it is his, or whether he knows a contact address for the tree owner.  (It looks like he has "attached" his family tree to his business site.)

regards,
Bob

It's the best free option for database driven FH sites. I would recommend TNG over it which costs about 20 bunts. However, you'll need some hosting knowledge to set them up and HTMl, CSS & PHP knowledge if you want to mod. them.

However, if you want to put your tree online, you can also use the website report feat. of various genealogy software. I would recommend GRAMPS, which does very good reports for the web that don't look like they were botched together circa 1994.

Just to close the loop on this message; phpgedview is an online genealogy package. It is a bit fiddley to set up and (as I have found) not completely compatible with some of the older offline software. I am the guy the runs the version at www.cowancreek.com/family and have a paticular interest in Pawlyn and Coles family trees.

Tilly25, you and I have chatted offline last month and have common Pawlyn relatives. If anyone else has any questions, please feel free to send them my way. And I have now updated that admin link. Sorry, didn't think anyone else but me was really looking at my tree!
