That is of great help; at least it gives me some sort of starting point. I'm afraid my Father's memory is terrible and he can't even remember the names of his grandparents. So I'm at a little bit of a loss but at least with those names you have given, I can do a little more research.

I live in Shrewsbury, Shropshire (my Dad movedd from Madeley\Ironbridge to work and then he met my Mum) ... so i'm going to view the county archive records tomorrow (hopefully). So might be able to find out a little more that way. 11 sons though?! - it appears that side of the family is just as large as my other side! Ha.

However, one thing my Dad does know is that they definitely came over from Germany specifically to work at the Coalport and Stoke on Trent Potteries. Very interesting to know and the fact that you have seen Baroness and Princesses does seem like my work colleague may have been correct - I didn't know there was such a thing as royal gypsies though!

I have been researching the Stephan family for several years trying to update the information passed to me by my mother's cousin. She had managed to trace the line back to the famous modeller Pierre Stephan. There are many fine pieces of his work in the British museum and crown derby still produce his Four Seasons.

I also live near Shrewsbury and would be happy to share my information should you be interested.
The Stephans travelled around the country and worked in most of the major china works before settling in Shropshire where most of the extended families still live today.

My lineage traces back to Charles Stephan whom I believe is one of the many sons of Pierre and John although I am not entirely sure which son belonged to which.

It is a labour of love tracing the tree and I have come to a dead end in trying to establish his country of birth, although it is most likely to be Germany.
