HAMMERER/KAMMERER
« on: Tuesday 16 March 10 15:27 GMT (UK) »
Would really appreciate a fresh pair of eyes!

I am trying to find more info on George Kammerer -he is on the 1851 Census living in St. Martin in the Field with wife Susannah 23/24's old respec. George is shown as being born in Switzerland.I cannot trace his marriage and as his wife is English I was expecting it be in the UK.
Can't find George or Susannah in 1861 at all, but in 1871 George is shown as 42 living in New Compton St St Giles and his wife is Sarah J some 15 years his junior.
Cannot find death of Susannah or remarriage to Sarah.

Can anyone help please
Many thanks
Sandra

I see in 1851 that their eldest daughter was born in Malta - so marriage could be there!

Here is the birth of the other child that is there in 1851 -

Oct/Nov/Dec 1849
St Martin in the fields 1a 374
Robert Daniel Kammerer

and here is the eldest that is with them in 1871
Jan/Feb/Mar 1862
St Martin in the fields 1a 374
Herbert George Kammerer

Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Hi both  :)

I think his full name was Jules George (going by the children's christenings and his possible second marriage in Pancras 1864).

Alien arrival 29 Jun 1850 on board the Triton from Ostend
George Kammerer (can't read occupation, maybe Négoce), native of Switzerland
also I believe Emelie Kammerer (shown native of Switzerland as well I believe)

Have a look at this site - records relate to Malta, apparently

Here's the remarriage (as indicated by Tati earlier):

Mar 1864 Qtr Pancras 1b 231:

Jules George Kammerer - Sarah Jane Bye

So Susannah's death is between Herbert George's birth (say from end of Nov 1861) & Mar 1864.

Thanks all so much for your help - is it possible that the death was not registered ?

If she died in England, it should be registered. Maybe she died abroad?
