Help with presenting family tree - can't remember what it's called
« on: Wednesday 17 March 10 17:33 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Sorry, this is a ridiculously stupid question, but I'm in Israel for 6 months and left all my genealogy books at home, and I cannot for the life of me remember what this is called!

I'm trying to remember what the name of a way of presenting your family tree is - it's not a diagram, you list each member individually with a brief summary of details like birth, death etc. I seem to remember it looking something like this:

JOE BLOGGS
  ------- other information
In lines underneath
Like this

Can anyone tell me the proper name of this format, and more information about how to set out your genealogical research in this fashion?

Many thanks!

Tzipporah

It sounds like what they call a Register Report on Family Tree Maker. The one I am looking at at the minute reads:-
16 Hendrika van de Waal-5 (Hermen van de Waal-4, Willem van de Waal-3, Herman van de Waal-2, Arien van de Waal-1) She was born 1838 in Ingen. She died on 28 Jun 1918 in Ingen
Neltus Cornelius Honders. He died bef 1918

Neltus Cornelius Honders and Hendrika van de Waal. (The marriage should appear here). They had one child.
i Willemina Honders. She was born 1860 in Ingen. She died on 27 March 1862 in Ingen.
I hope this helps, claytonbradley

I think the word you are looking for is ahnentafel. Just Google ahnentafel for an explanation of the set-up.
