I was going to say that if you have his name and approximate age it might be possible to find his birth registration, but only if he has an uncommon name, and you have some idea where he came from.

The only info I have is his name and where he was living at the time of my birth.. And the fact that his occupation was ROAC.. His surname is a very commom Welsh one.  :(

Do you have any living relatives who might know more about you father if you actually asked them.

My gt uncle adopted a child - we thought no one knew who the child's birth mother was but out of the blue an elderly aunt came out with her name. - she had heard stories as a child and remembered lots of vital info (she's in her mid 80's). This enabled us to trace this family line and discover the birth mothers living descendants.

It might be worth a try.
