A local school has allowed me access to several Day books from 1883 to 1975,
the Head needs to know if she needs 'permission' from  higher up before she can allow me to take these books away for copying etc. Has anyone had this 'problem', can they advise.

Record Offices seem to apply the hundred year rule in these circumstances to avoid details of living people being revealed.  You should thus be OK up to 1910.
