Hi
I'm trying to find my fathers family, the only details that I have is my birth certificate 2/5/1935.
His name was William James Shaw and he married  Eva Newton they lived in Swinton Manchester, the address on my birth certificate is 20 Long fold swinton England.
I'm 75 years old and if some one could help me I would be very gratefull

Do you happen to know their birth years?

Sorry no I don't I never knew my father and my mothers last known address was long st swinton in 1965.

The only thing I might suggest is (if you can) get to the historical electoral rolls and look up all known addresses.
They could have been living with family members when you were born, for example, which would help sorting out one Shaw family from another.

That, and getting an age from the marriage cert..

If you get their marriage cert. from Pauline's info. it will tell you his age & his father's name.You will need year;quarter;place & index no. which is on the link.
You can order it from here:

We can then look for his birth.
