TREADWELL WOODS Marriage COMPLETED, WITH THANKS
« on: Sunday 21 March 10 07:42 GMT (UK) »
I have been looking for a marriage for Thomas Treadwell/Treadwill and Sarah Woods,
I first find them on 1851 living in Harrow, their son Robert was born in circa 1849, I can't find his baptim at St Marys Harrow but have found all of his siblings baptised there from 1851 onwards.
St Mary's marriages do not seem to be on line so I haven't been able to find a marriage, neither are they listed on the usual sites, I do wonder if Thomas and Sarah married at Ipsden where Thomas came from, Sarah was born in Harrow according to the following census, IF  anyone can help me find this marriage or tell me where the parish records would be lodged I would be very a appreciated

There is a marriage not a million miles away, in the 2nd Quarter of 1846  Staines  3 339 between a Thomas Treadwell and a Sarah POOR.  If you are willing to risk a few bob before the price rise at the GRO on 1st April, you could try this one and see what her father's name was - it could be that Sarah was a widow when she married Thomas, or it could have been extremely bad handwriting - sorry, checking the original image I don't see her listed under "Woods", so perhaps a remarriage.

Hi
Thanks for the info, I did look at that one but at the moment I don't know about a second marriage, I could first of all look at her first son's bapt, that may give me a lead as I haven't found him as being baptised along with his siblings, my relative might go to the Oxford record office to look through the records, Sarah's mother is on a census living with them as a family which is where I thought perhaps she was Sarah Woods, a good suggestion that there may have been a previous marriage, I will delve more

Thank you for your help

regards

Sarah Poor marrying Thomas Treadwell at All Saints Laleham in 1846 is a spinster, daughter of William Poor.

Thomas Treadwell is a labourer, son of Joseph Treadwell, labourer.  Both are of full age, and both of Laleham.

Since the previous message I have worked non stop on Poor/Treadwell , I do now believe that Sarah was the dau of William Poor and Ruth Smith born circa 1825,
On Treadwell  census 1851 there is Emma Woods ma in law, I don't know where she fits in, quite old at aged 75 when Sarah was 26 and Thomas Treadwell was 35, ma in law of whom I wonder.
I don't know where Laleham is

Thank you for the help, it is beginning to fall into place now

regards

I'm not sure that Sarah Woods is recorded as 'mother-in-law'.  The enumerator's 'M's tend to start with an elaborate curl - eg on the abbreviation 'Mar'.   Whatever is written in the relationship column for Sarah looks more as though it begins with a 'W' - and looks very like the way 'Widow' is written in the next column. It may just be an error.

Goodness me you are being so helpful, I am now wondering if Sarah Wood, widow,  is Thomas Treadwells mother who might well have married after the death of his father  Joseph,  BUT he is not shown as DEC on Thomas's  marr cert, some incumbents don't bother as I have found out in the past, witness was Sarah's father and a parish clerk, I am going to dispence with the Wood(s) connection as I am going down the Treadwell line

Thank you all very much for your impute, I do appreciate your interests
