Hi Pat,

I found your post while looking for the surname McCluskey (variants) & I'm wondering what the McCluskey link is as there's no reference to the name in your post, only in the Subject heading?

You may already have this, the marriage index of your g g/parents...

Thanks Pat...

That's interesting as I have McCluskey's in my tree originating in Ireland having come to Scotland.

Can I ask the age of Edward McCluskey on his marriage in 1878 & who his parents were?

I believe my McCluskeys were from what's now classed as Northern Ireland (Monaghan/Derry) areas.
Interestingly, I have John McCluskey b c 1847 Monaghan to Edward & Bridget McCluskey (M.S. McMahon/McMann)

Hi again Annie.
Checked up for you. Bella Jane Mc Cann aged 17 Domestic servant married John McCluskey aged 26 an ironwork labourer of 68a Coats St, Coatbridge. On 19th Feb 1897 at St Patricks RC Chapel in Coatbridge. His parents were Joseph Mc Cluskey a chemical works labourer and Mary McGhee. The McCanns also lived at that address at the time and Bella's dad was also an ironworks labourer so presumably they grew up as friends and yes the parents were Irish. Accessed the census for 1901 3 years after the marriage and they were living in 68L Coats St. They had four men living with them as boarders all from Ireland. Edward and Bella were also from Ireland.
