Thanks for all that information - most interesting and useful. One does wonder how a frugal "man of the cloth" came to have an estate of £655, which was a lot of money in those days!

I hope to submit a short memorial to the local Sligo weekly paper in commemoration of the centenary although, if used, I may never see it!

According to the 1911 census this ‘man of the cloth’ and his wife had seven children to clothe, feed and school, so in that context, his estate wasn’t excessive.

I’m aware information such as his estate is freely available to search, but it begs the question - “How much personal information should be given in replies”. 
This issue was raised recently by other Rootschatters, unhappy at a lack of discretion.

Several members of my family were hurt by their private and personal information being put online by others, without considering the consequences.  Is this fair?

Today - 27 October - marks the centenary of the death of the Rev Knox in 1923. I will raise a small glass to him this evening and any other family members or interested parties are welcome to join me.
