Clara May Copper
« on: Tuesday 23 March 10 10:27 GMT (UK) »
I can find the birth cert for Clara May Copper but i cant find a death cert. I know she was born in September 1897 in Hartley Wintney, Hampshire. And her father was called Charles and her mother was Moss Rose.
I have been told she died young but thats all i know about her. Can someone help me fill in the gaps.

I can't see any sign of an early death, or indeed a marriage.

Could she be this Clara?

Born: 1897 Sept 1/4 Vol:2c Page:201 Dist: Hartley Wintney
Died: 1955 Mar 1/4 Vol: 6b Page: 5 Dist: Aldershot
Never married

I noticed you mention in your posts that you descend from Thomas W Waite and Edith Mary Copper - I have a lot of research on the Copper Family - their father is my Gt Uncle and younger brother of my Gt Grandmother I'd be interested to know more about Thomas and Edith's descendants.

Edith's baptism was on 31 Dec 1911 in the parish of Elvetham Hampshire. (I have copy and her marriage)

It is possible that I am descended from Thomas Ayres and Ann Copperthwaite who married at Elvetham in Oct 1755

In the early and mid 1700s there were many Copperthwaite baptisms in Elvetham including a John Copperthwaite s/o Robert in Nov 1757. Later, on 17APR1786,  a John Copper married Mary Greenham. I have long thought that these two Johns were the same person but have no proof either way. If you seem to be up against a brick wall with Coppers try Copperthwaites.

Hi, RE: Copper Family

I’ve only found 4 children of Edith and Thomas, Peter, Rosemary, Robert and Shelia all born between 1935-1948 registered in Aldershot Dist. Who was the 5th?

Siblings of Edith Copper are –
Clara May Copper b.1897-1955 (Didn’t marry).
Hilda Bertha Copper b.7 Aug 1898- 1990 married 29 Sep 1962 to Widow Victor Thomas Willis b.18 Aug 1895 – 1972 (No Children).
Dorothy Rose Copper b.13 Apr 1902 – 1980 married 1 Jun 1925 to John Edward George Marley b.1902 – 1967 (2 Boys John & David).
Nellie Irene Copper b.10 Jan 1909 –1909 Dec qtr.

Edith’s Parents are Mossy Rose Watts b.1872-1948 dau of Charles Watts & Harriet Lamb who married in 1854. (They had about 9 other children). She married 23 May 1896 to Charles Copper b.1866 – 1932.

Charles Coppers parents are Thomas Copper b.1827 – 14 Aug 1901 he married 5 May 1855 to Eliza Honeyborn b.1835 – 18 Dec 1905 (They had 10 Children altogether one being my Gt Grandmother) they all married and had children except 2 who died young and one of them immigrated to Australia.

Thomas Copper (1827) was the baseborn son of Mary Ann Copper b.1807 Egypt Africa – 20 Jan 1876. She married Widow William Harwood (who already had 8 Children with his first wife) in 1843 and had 2 children with him; her fathers name was Charles Copper b. abt 1768, she had a brother John born East India/at Sea.

Eliza Honeyborn (1835) was the baseborn dau of Elizabeth Honeyborn b.1801 – 8 Jan 1886. She married in 1845 to Widow Richard Pike b.1794 – 1847; it’s possible that Eliza may be the dau of Richard, she married under the surname Honeyborn but her baptism in 1835 is under the surname Pike. Her parents were John Honeyborn & Dinah Munday both born c 1767-1770.

There is no mention or connection with any ‘Copperthwaites’ in the family at present.

P.S - Sorry for the late reply, my hard drive went bang, Thankfully I had most stuff backed up.
