Bell was a very common surname in that area of Scotland and also NE England. I have some Bells from Northumberland. My brother in law has some from Dumfriesshire.

You need to take care that you are tracing the correct lines.

I have done very extensively family research work on both Bell Families of Dumfries County, and also on Arkimholme near Langhorn Scotland
Do you mean Arkinholm or Erkinholme in the parish of Langholm in Dumfries-shire?

'Holm' is a Scandinavian place name element meaning a small island. The parish of Langholm is full of places ending in -holm. On modern maps Arkinholme is spelled Erkinholme - see https://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/NY3684
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
