Hi Emma

Given his career dates, the book could be wrong about the birthdate - there are a few typos in it!

I've just checked on SP and it was 12 July 1897, Falkirk. Parents - James McLaren, cycle merchant and Janet m.s. Naismith

Information on Arthur H Lockett, born Alsager Bank, 30/08/1875

Arthur  H Lockett started his career as an out-side left and had a reputation for bamboozling a full-back twice, turning him inside out.  Having started out with his local club Crewe Alexandra, he joined Stoke in 1900 before moving to Aston Villa.  He moved to Preston North End at the start of 1905 -06 season.  His first season at Deepdale was outstanding as he more than played his part in helping the club finish runners-up in the First Division .  Midway through the following season Lockett was switched to right full-back and played with great distinction until leaving to join Watford in 1908.

More information to follow

Regards

Simon
