Ceylon: Birth in Ceylon - MORRISON

Hi,
Would anyone know if there are any birth records available online from Ceylon?

I'm looking for Charles Sydney Vane Morrison born about 1866 in Kandy, Ceylon of Scottish parents but don't know their names.  I'm trying to find all this out for a friend of my mother's.

Have you tried contacting the Scots Kirk in Kandy? They may have a baptism record.

Hi Shaun,

No luck though were very helpful and so far nothing back from the other minister they suggested might be able to help.  Will maybe need to e-mail him again as that was back in April.

You might try emailing the owner of this site http://www.ceylondatabase.net/Surnames.html#M

Morrison is in the list of names in the  database

Hi Shaun,

Just an update - e-mailed the British Library and there are no records on line for Ceylon/Sri Lanka but they gave me the following address:-

Registrar General's Office, New Secretariat, Maligawatta, Colombo 10, Sri Lanka

Have just been on holiday and passed what info I'd found (with all the help) to my Mum's friend and she was delighted and asked to pass on her thanks.

No luck with the ceylondatabase - not my Morrison!!!
