I picked up the 4 records mentioned in earlier posts on this thread.
If you send me a PM with your email address I will get them off to you.

Hi John

Hi John

Thank you so much for the printouts, they are so helpful and would have been beyond my reach without your assistance.
When I looked at the Mountain View burials index after Anthony Ashton's name and date of death there was the following.  MASONIC/*/*/201/0013.

Does the word Masonic refer to the Masonic Lodge and mean that anyone buried there was a member or is it just a name for that part of the cemetery.

It is not important, but I am just curious.

Cheers
Marj

Hi Marj,

I called Mountain View Cemetery today and they told me that the Masons actually purchased that entire section of the cemetery and at the time Anthony was buried, his family would have had to request permission from the Masons for him to be buried there.  Since this was obviously granted, the cemetery said he must have had a connection to the Lodge and this connection was most likely membership.

A small tidbit but hope it helps.

Hi Lynwen

Thanks very much for this wee bit of info.   It is great to be able to note these things in the family tree.   Now I will wait for someone to visit Vancouver and go take a photo for me.

I will be away for a couple of weeks in Australia with my wee grandchildren, so will take a bit of a break from researching and come back all refreshed  and raring to go.   It is so wonderful to have people like yourself assisting.  Hope you have an great Easter break.

Cheers
Marj
