Thank you for the lookup offer.

Could you please check your books for the Moran family at 5 Johnson's Court -- all years.  Possible names may be Denis Moran, William Kelly, Timothy Moran.

I really appreciate your time and assistance.

Cindy

some directories listing for the Moran family business (some of these are already mentioned in the other posts) :

1848

13 East Johnson's Court (between Grafton Street and Clarendon St)
        Dennis Moran, chimney sweeper

1863

it appears number 12 to 16 Johnsons' Court East are now 'new entrance to Clarendon Street Church', Denis Moran, sweep is now listed at number 5 instead of 13.

Late 1870s there is an Edward Moran, chim. Sweeper at number 5 - maybe a son of Denis ?

1894

Timothy Moran, chimney sweeper, 5 Johnsons court east

1904

Moran & Sons, 51 Oakley Rd, Ranelagh
Timothy Moran, 5 Johnsons court east - chim. sweeper to Trinity College

1914

Timothy Moran, 5 Johnson 's court

1927

Moran & Sons, 5 Johnstons court east - chim. cleaners to Trinity College and Bank of Ireland
  Jas. J. Moran, "        "  chimney cleaners

Denis Moran, 51 Oakley Rd, Ranelagh

1938
same as 1937 listing eadaoin mentioned plus

William Moran, 51 Oakley Rd, Ranelagh  (no occupation given...  could be his residence)

Moran as sweeps at both addresses in 1949

Cindy

You have received an abundant supply of information from other contributors but if you require more, I can supply 4 references from the Irish Times from 1859 to 1901 for the Morans at 5 Johnston's Court.

I replied to your private message by a private message for the reason given.
Normally I prefer to use the main board for all replies as I derive a great deal from the input of others and in this case the reply from Shanew gave me the clue s I needed to trace the information you requested.
The Irish Times is on line for a fee while major libraries have the back editions on microfilm. The source work I created runs from March 1859 until 6th April 1901 and covers Dublin City and some South Dublin Suburbs. You may have read the notices about copyright and this board and in this respect you will understand that I would like to adhere to the moderator's wishes and err on the side of caution.
If you can supply further addresses I can check these for the names you gave.
