David Edwards-help to find him on the 1851 census please
« on: Wednesday 24 March 10 17:04 GMT (UK) »
I am still searching for a great grandfather namely David Edwards on the 1851 census.  Born c1836 in Llanddewi Brefi, Cardinganshire he would have been about 15 years of age in 1851.  His occupation throughout his adult life via the census 1861-1891 was that of “blacksmith’s striker” so I would assume in 1851 he was possibly an apprentice to a blacksmith and even to the point of lodging with his master being that he was not at home with his parents Thomas & Mary Edwards of Gogoyan, Cardigan [HO107/2487/252/12] on the 1851 returns.

I would appreciate any help to locate him
anything and everything to do with the village of Brithdir, near New Tredegar in Gwent.

Hello Dannemois,

I have looked 1861-1871 and can't find him there with the details you have given. ???
I was trying to find out where he was living in 1861 to see if that was of any help.

Hi Heywood

On the 1841 census for Tregaron, Cardinganshire [HO107/1375/14/3/7] my great grandfather David Edwards was listed as aged 5 at home with his parents Thomas Edwards, aged 24, with occupation of ag/lab; Mary, 24 and siblings Ann, aged 8 and Sarah aged 3.  The family was residing at a property named Tyrhoe Uchaf, Gogoian, Llanddewi Brefi, Cardigan.

By the 1861 he had married and migrated to Manchester; listed as aged 25.  From there I have him through the census until his death but not on the 1851 which is the one I am seeking.

Thanks for trying; Roy

No- can't see him and he married there and had his children there so it is quite annoying.

Sorry I can't help and hope that something turns up for you.
