Ahh right thanks, just been on the phone to my mother who said it was definitely Lucklow where he had lived. That's amazing, well that kinda quashes the idea of him being taken in by a family in the US as a young child. Did Albert have any family in the US? I am glad there is a connection with William mentioned but Frank Dyton seems to be a little more elusive. I know Frank and William went into the catering business in India, and may have had a hotel/restaurant in india. My aunty before she passed away believed they may have came to the UK to either visit or live about 1967. Very interesting.
Payne's from Elgin Scotland and Burnet Texas,
Wilsons from Moreton Cheshire,
Burton's from Garsdale, Bootle, Birkenhead, Kendal's from Westmorland,
Mitchell's from Birkenhead Cheshire and Dyserth North Wales.
Dyton's from St Albans, Kidderpore India, Mhow India and New York.

It was very common for children to be sent away from India to boarding school so it's possible that Albert was sent somewhere else as a child. Very often children sent back to England where there might be relatives (my Dad's cousin from Bombay sent to boarding school in England and grandfather's cousins whose parents came from Ireland also went to school in England).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Just looking at Dytons in the UK overseas BMD indexes, we have:

1897 marriage of Albert Henry Dyton and birth of Annie Ellen Dyton both at Bareilly, both reported by 70th regiment
1899 birth of May D Dyton at Kingston-on-Thames. 70th regt
1902 birth of Albert Edward Dyton 70th regt at Lucknow
1907 birth of Sheila Dyton, 70th regt Marikuppam
1908 death of Sheila at Mhow
1924 marriage of Dorothy Dyton to a Mr Wright in India

Hey thanks for the replies, dorothy dyton was my nan's half sister, she married a Fred Wright and had 11 children who resided in nottingham, england. Is there anything on Albert Dyton in the US, and more so William and Frank Dyton? They may have arrived in England about 1967 but can only see records up to 1960.
Much appreciated your help

There's a possible death for Frank in the fourth quarter of 1968 in Crewe - Frank Dyton aged 66. There is also a Francis A Dyton listed for that quarter, in Southend, also aged 66.

Albert Dyton was single in the 1930 US census.

There is a WW1 medal index card for T/Sgt Albert Henry Dyton, Dorset Regiment,  attached to Supply & Transport Corps of the Indian Army as 2nd Lieutenant. Is that the father?

Thanks for the replies. :)
Well I know Frank and William will have been christened at st Patricks agra, so I will phone up the British library as I managed to get my grandads marriage certificate from 1944 at st. Patricks agra, so if I take that info about the frank and Francis Dyton and say to the staff that he was born about 1902 and see if there are records transcribed from this church. A helpful chap managed to get my grandads obituary from when he died in Florida.. I wonder if there will be an obituary for Albert Edward Dyton from his time in New York, as I presume this will be one of the Dyton brothers having lived in Lucknow. Many thanks for lloking up records.
P.s I will make a call to confirm the Albert Henry Dyton ww1 records...if anyone knows but it could well be him.
