Hi,

I can see that there is a Sidney Ernest Shearn born Q2 1899, Bath is that the one you are looking for?

There is a death record for a Sidney Ernest Shearn born 5 May 1899 and died Q3 1972, Trowbridge.

Hope that helps.

I am new to the family tree messages but my grandparents were Ernest Shearn born Bath approx. 1869 and Emily Baker born Bath approx. 1877. They were married June 1895 and in 1899 lived at 2, Snow Hill, Bath. Can anyone help me to find their parents please? Thanks.

I've just looked at my past posts and noticed that the marriage I found was for William Shearn to Emily Eliza Baker in  June 1895, Bath 5c 1115 (FreeBMD)

So I'm now a bit confused (which doesn't take much these days!!) as you said you grandfather was Ernest Shearn married in June 1895 to Emily Baker. Did your grandfather use the name Ernest instead of William?

Once I know more I'll gladly help you further.

Thanks for your reply, its me who is getting confused , you are correct and his name was William and his son was Ernest. The details that you gave for William and Emily wrongly transcribed as Shearer seem to be the correct family and Ernest did die in Trowbridge as you stated.  Thanks again.

Phew!! so I've not lost it yet........

This looks like your William Shearn on the 1871 census

William Barry Head b1811, Bath - Plasterer
Harriett Barry Wife b1808, Chippenham, Wiltshire
Sarah Shearn Dau b1834, Bath - Nurse
William Shearn Son b 1868, Bath

They are living in the Walcott, St Swithin area RG10 2487 F29 p8

So that looks as if William's grandparents are William and Harriett Barry.
Not sure yet where his father is.

Emily Baker is on the 1881 census, living in the Walcott area, you can view those details free of charge.
