you've given me a headache with this.I can't find anything on this photographer at this address, however I have found this studio which was owned by Thompson Fisher who had it from 1891-1904 when he died.So this can't be 1899 or early 1890's.has to be before or after these dates. So did Hinton have this after 1904 as the cardstock isn't 1880's or this a reprint of an earlier photo copied after 1904...still looking.

Hi Jim
Many thanks for all your info, and analysis of the clothing, much appreciated!
Very interesting about the studio. I found one random reference on the net to a London street directory of 1921, which lists "54 Hinton Wm Ernest, photographer", so I would presume he's either at the studio after Thompson Fisher, or perhaps they both operated from the same address?
I found 4 references to William Hinton & Co on victorianphotographers.co.uk, although it's all pay per view... wondering if this might be worth a shot?
Considering your idea that this might be a reprint of an earlier photo - there isn't a number written in on the back of the photo, would this be unusual, do you know?
Still trying to find a group of rellies that might fit the evidence this end... I can match your headache! Would be most interested to hear if you find any more out.
