Margaret Faulkner PAIN
« on: Tuesday 30 March 10 01:43 BST (UK) »
I have an ancestor Margaret Faulkner PAIN who was born about 1850 in Bewdley, Worcestershire. She was christened at Wribbenhall on 4 Aug 1850 (surname spelled PAYNE). The 1851 census shows her age 8 months, which would put her birth sometime in July 1850. However, I can't find any birth registration for her, so I assume there was no birth certificate. Must I accept that her birth was never registered?

Is this the one in 1851, Margarett Payne. born about 1850, living in Kidderminster.

Is so where do's it say she was born.

According to Ancestry index she wasn't born in Worcestershire.

Where in Kidderminster are the living.

Yes, that is the right one. As I said before, she was recorded as 8 months old. Her birth place was recorded as Wribbenhall - which is in Worcestershire even though the image and index don't say it. The family is living in Wribbenhall, Worcestershire (in the parish of Kidderminster, which Ancestry has trascribed). As far as I am aware, Wribbenhall is in Bewdley, Worcestershire. Margaret gives her birth place as Bewdley in all the future censuses.

I've not had trouble tracing Margaret in the censuses, I just have not been able to find her birth registration - which should have been about 1850 in Kidderminster reg. district. All I can conclude is that her birth was never registered.
