West Yorks / Yorkshire Regts DCM
« on: Tuesday 30 March 10 06:09 BST (UK) »
I(an amateur) have been asked to research a William Johnson and his medals (incl. DCM)
So far I have found that he won his DCM whilst serving with 2nd Bn West Yorks. Army number 63365.
Information also stated that he seems to have previously been in The Yorkshire Regt. Army no.10319.
Home town given as Amersham Common (Ox / Bucks area)
Information so far was extracted from a WW1 forum site.
I have problems in trying to locate his medal record index on National Archives.
I will pay the down load fee when he is positively identified.
I reside in County Down so cannot easily nip down to Kew !
Would be grateful for all information on this soldier.
Many Thanks
Billy

Heres his DCM card....its dated 3rd June 19 ?? so try and check the London Gazette online for a citation
He has two cards on the NA site one is Cpl W Johnson which is the one above.
The other will be for his campaign medals.

Try searching the NA site with just his number.

He went to france on 24/2/1915 and was entitled to 15 star,Brit War and Victory Medals.
