Hi there,
 Welcome to Rootschat. :D :D
Could you be a bit more specific as to the information you already do have and what information you are looking for.
It just saves anyone trying to help from researching the same data you already have. Names and dates are a big help.
You will find very helpful people on here who will do their best to help. :)

sorry the main people i need help on are Thomas Turney abt, 1829-1877  --- I'm looking for names of his parents (he was born in heath and reach) if possible,   Harry Guess 1874-? -- I'm lookin for any possible info on him i have no idea where or when he died, or who his parents where as i think he may have taken his mothers name as in one census he is listed as harry guess but previous one to this he is listed as Henry baine, i own his civil war certificate and medal card along with a few pictures which all say harry guess as do his WW1 service records so I'm really confused with him and would appreciate any help.

hello,  do you know if Thomas Turney married, and if so, to whom & when.  If this is in Bedfordshire & after 1837, his father's name could be gleaned from marriage certificate held in parish records at the Archives.

regards John

OK - I have tracked a Thomas Turney born 1829 Heath & Reach through the censuses. This one married an Ann b 1835 Soulbury, Bucks & they had at least 7 children. On 1861 & 1871 they had with them brother George Turney b 1820 who was blind, & in 1851 was in a blind asylum in Islington, while Thomas was a servant at Linslade House. Back to 1841 & Thomas Turney age 13 is with Sarah Turney aged 20 living in the hamlet of Heath. So no parental information on the censuses,

Thus to his marriage, FreeBMD has in March quarter 1852 in Leighton Buzzard RD vol 3b page 518 has Thomas Turney & Ann Woolhead. From the IGI there is an extracted entry for Leighton Buzzard on 27 Jan 1852, his father was Richard Turney, hers was Thomas Woolhead.

cheers John

Richard Turney married Catherine Seer at Leighton Buzzard on 12 Oct 1814 per the IGI at www.familysearch.org. They baptised a number of children at Heath and Reach: Sarah on 25 Feb 1816; James 23 Nov 1817; William on 22 Nov 1822 (buried 2 June 1829 age 7), then William and Thomas on 30 Jun 1837. Were these last two late baptisms? You need to check with the parish register to see if there's any other information,

There's a burial of Richard Turney age 70 at Heath and Reach on 20 Apr 1836. What happened to Catherine though?

John, are you sure that Thomas age 13 in 1841 is the right one? They're enumerated as Turner. Not saying they're not the right ones though!

David

back again.....
If I had looked a bit further it seems
 Henry Baines born 1884 died.
Deaths Mar 1884
BAINES  Henry  0  Leighton Buzzard  3b 239

Births Dec 1877
Guess  Annie    Leighton Buzzard  3b 417

Births Jun 1879
  Baines  Martha     Leighton B.  3b 418

Mary appears to have had 2 children (Henry and Ann) prior to marrying Thomas Baine. Could she have been married before to ? Guess. ???  It may be worth getting Henrys birth cert.

1891 Census Leighton Buzzard
Thomas Baine 44 Leighton Buzzard Gen. Lab.
Mary Baine 40 Heath & Reach, Bedfordshire
Harry Baine 17 Leighton Buzzard  Gen.Lab
Matha Bains 11 Leighton Buzzard

Marriages Jun 1897
Cox  Angelina     Leighton B.  3b 884
Guess  Harry     Leighton B.  3b 884

From the war record of Harry Guess he married Angelina Cox and has 4 children listed on the record. I assume you have this info.

Kind Regards
mariac

The baptisms of William & Thomas Turney on 30 June 1837 have no further info to indicate that they were late. However it is interesting to note that there were 57 baptisms done on that date at Heath & Reach - what, did the vicar declare an amnesty ! The earlier baptisms have father Richard down as a Shepherd.

At the marriage of Richard Turney & Catherine Seer the witnesses were George Bass & Sarah Green.

David, at the Archives there's a note in the burials fiches that say that the original register for 1836 - 1850 is missing, hence if Catherine was buried during that period then we won't know; unless by chance they are on the Monumental Inscriptions done by BFHS in 1986. I will make a note to take a look at the next meeting - a week Friday.

cheers John
