Bleaching in Basford
« on: Saturday 03 April 10 10:29 BST (UK) »
Some of my tree were bleachers in Basford in the late 1700's/early1800s, and reasonably well off.

Does anyone know anything about bleaching in Basford? What did they bleach? The family were connected by marraige to one of the Leicestershire hosiery firms so I suspect it was textiles rather than woodpulp.

Any information received with interest, thankyou!

Whoops, too quick to ask before looking! Google is your friend  ;D

I see that the company concerned was involved in bleaching hosiery. Pearson was the name, does anyone have any info about this company?
