Dear Members,

My grandfather lived in Burmantofts, Leeds when he joined the Army in 1904. He was a Gunner RFA in 1906.
Where would he have been stationed please ?

Unfortunately the RA live up to their motto, which is 'Everywhere'. If you click on the first RFA link here - http://www.1914-1918.net/cra.htm - you will see dozens of regular RFA brigades. The second link will tell you what a RFA brigade consisted of.

If he hasn't got a very common name you could try looking for births of any children in the regimental BMDs on Findmypast for example. You will find the location without buying the certificate, and one of the certificates may give his brigade. His 1911 census entry will tell you where the children were born as well.

If you cannot find him in the 1911 try searching for his family. Soldiers were usually recorded as just their initials, while wives and childen were recorded in full.
