any information whittaker/tanner birmingham area

I am trying to get more information about my husband's family. He knows very little about them, and m problems are two-fold: The information I need is too recent(!!) and I haven'e the funds to send for multiple birth/marriage/death certificates. Anyway, known information is:
Frank Edward WHITTAKER b. 1901 (father) son of Henry James WHITTAKER b. about 1875 and Kate Ellen EVANS b. about 1875, bot from Birmingham.
Gladys Eva TANNER b. 1904 daughter of Elizabeth S. ?
I cannot find a marriage for Frank and Gladys, although my husband's birth cert does show his parents as married. It is believed that Frank and Gladys divorced, both re-married and at least Gladys had further offspring. I have also not been able to trace any information regarding the deaths of either Frank or Gladys. Any help would be much appreciated.
