It doesn't show occupation on catholic marriage register (in fact they're all in latin!) but on daniel's marriage cert it show's plumber's labourer

actually I'm wondering whether that death is the same bridget and whether John remarried and that would explain why the name of the wife name on 1891 census is ann rather than bridget

I was writing this when you posted so will leave it- although the occupations do not fit with my favoured one  :-\

At the moment, I favour the Daniel who is the son on John and Ann in Kirkdale. Mainly because he is the only one there and also the place.

I wonder if anything would be forthcoming if you approached the registry office re that death of Daniel in 1884?

This John Collins is born c 1857 in 1891 and the trouble is there is more than one which fits over the censuses.
I can't see him in 1901 unless he is the one in the workhouse in Everton but not sure at all.
I can't find Ann either nor their son John b c1886 properly but strangely, there is a John born 1887 in an industrial school in Everton too.

I know.....it all gets a bit vague from there! They had another son too....Patrick born 1880, he's not in the family on the 1891 census but there is a death record for a Patrick Collins (I think it was from 1890......I don't know I mesmerised!)
It would be ideal if you could get certificates for all these people but I'll be in the workhouse myself if i don't stop soon!
Thanks for your help

Yes but at the moment, there are two births for Daniel Collins in 1884.
You know one is to John and Bridget O' Donnell and the other one is possibly to John Collins and Ann (there is a marriage to an Ann Williams -1882).
There is also a death for a Daniel Collins in 1884.
I know I keep saying it but I wonder if the records office would confirm/deny which, if any, the death was for.  :-\

would I need to get this death cert then? the one for daniel in 1884? or would i be better with the other birth cert?.......no that's not going to tell me which one died!!!

I suppose I'm right in thinking that one of them is my grandad! it would be just my luck for them both to have a father called john Collins!! :-\

I need to look at what I know for definite and see what I can glean. when I was at the records office today I had that many bits of paper I looked like some kind of mad woman......i need to get organised!

 ;D ;D

As far as I can tell, most registrars need you to purchase but I do read on here when some seem to be understanding and are more open to confirming or denying.
I know when I dealt with L'pool once, I got a 'telling off' because (of course) Liverpool and West Derby are two distinct registration districts and I hadn't furnished enough details.
In this case, you really need to know first, whether, the Daniel who dies is the one who you have in that birth certificate - if not- then it's a rethink because that one is somewhere.
If it is the one who dies - then it is get the other certificate and begin again  ::)

Good with your search.
I'll update this blog when I've spoken to the reg office .......maybe I can play the fool and they'll feel sorry for me  :)
