Not at all, so many of these men have been forgotten... someone has thrown him out of his family, it was good of you to take him in.

I presume gortonboy's information comes from the NA as ancestry does not appear to have William C (unless my eyesight is getting really bad  :) ). It does however have another William. This is what is there for the medal cards:-

I have waded through their other records 27 service records/10 pension records, but I don't think that he is there.
