Old streets in Leeds
« on: Saturday 03 April 10 20:11 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know where 46 Freehold Street and 26 Stipendiary would be in present day Leeds?  I can't seem to find the streets anywhere and suspect that they were absorbed into other streets and was wondering if anyone has any insight?

Thanks

Hi lhanson,

Welcome to RootsChat !!  :)

If you type the street names into the search on this link, it should give you some idea.

I'm ecstatic - I got to look at the 3 different places that my great grandparents lived in Leeds between 1867 and 1871 before they emigrated to the US.  Thank you a thousand times over.

Hi L Hanson

Have a look at Secret Leeds,   http://www.secretleeds.com  it's another Leeds website like Leodis, it's free and there's a good forum on there, I've just got lots of info on my Granddad's family in Wortley that I couldn't find anywhere else, some of the people on there have photos that aren't on Leodis. Best of luck with finding your ancestors

Regards
Julie

Does anyone know what part of Leeds could you find Gideon Yard, which originally was housing families that worked for the British Transport Commission. Probably the 19th century. Could it have been in the Hunslet region of Leeds

Using the "search addresses" facility on FindMyPast then Gideon Yard is shown as being in Hunslet - 1881, 1891, 1901, 1021 and 1939.

1881 = Leathley Road - Gideon Yard - Ebony Street.

Many thanks for finding the address and region of Leeds for Gideon Yard.

Different subject. Can you help me find a street name for Valley Cottages, Moor Allerton. The time period 1880's to 1900's.
