Central Scotland 1750's

Thanks to the wonderful statutory records available at ScotlandsPeople, I have gotten back several generations on my Tillicoultry grandmother's family. I'm stumped with a couple of couples who, judging from their marriage dates, were born in the 1750-1760 range.  The couples are Archibald Nicol/Janet Johnstone who I believe were from Falkirk, and John McDougall/Margaret Drummond, married in 1773 in Perth.
I am visiting the area next month - any help, either specific to these folks or on-site search strategy in general would be greatly appreciate. Thanks.

There is a member tree on Ancestry for Archilbald Nicol and Janet Johnson which shows Archibald as Archibald Henderson Nichol b. 1747.  There is an actual extract on IGI (should show on Scotlands People) with this name:

ARCHIBALD HENDERSON NICOLL Christening: 18 MAR 1747 Falkirk, Stirling
Parents:JAMES NICOLL and ELIZABETH HENDERSON
