Info on WW1 soldier.
« on: Wednesday 07 April 10 13:35 BST (UK) »
Hi there,

I am trying to find information on Morris Solomons who was in the 2nd London Regiment during WW1, his Regimental Number being 5413, 232386. I think he was in the Veterinary Corps.

Where do I need to look to find this out?

Thanks.............Helen

Hello Helen,

What info do you have that links Morris with the Veterinary Corps?

He did not go overseas before Jan 1916 (no Star) and was still serving with the 2nd London Reg. in early 1917 (six-digit service number).

He would have joined around Jan/Feb 1916 probably.

I have no evidence he was in the Vet Corps, only what has been handed down in the family orally.

I have a photo of him in uniform, and he is wearing spurs.

A better scan of the cap badge is needed, if you have the original. But it is not the 2nd (City of) London Regiment. It could be the Army Veterinary Corps.

Thanks Ken, it looks like I've been given the wrong info about his regiment.

My apologies.

I tried to enlarge the cap badge, but it just becomes blurrier.

Hi
If you have his address you might be able to find his regiment and number in the absent voters.
But he might have been in more then one regiment and he could have more then one number it can be trail and error.
